The Ceylon National Chamber of Industries was initiated after independence to facilitate the functions of small industrialists. The long-term aim of this establishment was to provide a platform for local business-men to develop their endeavours within a space that was their own. Soon, they were incorporated into an act of the parliament further strengthening their stance as the voice of industrialists in Sri Lanka.

 

For the past two decades, CNCI has been organising an awards ceremony to recognise and felicitate the achievers in the industry; the trailblazers who have made waves within their field and have displayed exceptional trade performance in the corporate landscape.

 

This year, the awards ceremony was held on the 12th of January 2022 at Hotel Galadari with Hon. Wimal Weerawansa, Minister of Industries gracing the occasion as chief guest. The aim of the 20th CNCI Achiever Awards was to honour those who had showcased excellence in the industry despite external challenges such as the global pandemic and unsettlement in the economic climate.

 

Lustre is proud to have achieved the national gold excellence award at this prestigious ceremony, after an evaluation that touched base with various aspects such as value addition, turnover, productivity, research and development, health and safety and social responsibilities to name a few.

 

As a brand, Lustre has always devoted its time and efforts to ensuring that alongside working towards their goals, they are able to create a greater, significant change within society. This has transpired in more ways than one, through CSR initiatives and also the aim to empower the youth with the unusual yet beautiful craft of gem cutting, so that they can make a future out of it.

 

This mindset has driven immense change within the field and has, since then brought forth a new era of modern flair added to a precious, traditional skill. This dedication and motivation to do something, and to be the best at it, is what has earned Lustre this recognition within the gem cutting corporate frame.
